The Super Bowl is almost here, and what better way to celebrate than with these rich, fudgy Dark Chocolate Football Cupcakes? Whether you’re hosting a party, bringing a treat to a gathering, or making something fun for the kids, these cupcakes are the ultimate game-day dessert!

I made these with my Wittle Chefs (my kids), and we had an absolute blast baking them together. If you want to see all the fun, check out the video on their YouTube channel!
These cupcakes are deeply chocolatey, incredibly moist, and topped with a luscious chocolate fudge frosting that takes them over the top. Trust me-this is the best chocolate cupcake I’ve ever had in my life!
Ingredients
For the Cupcakes:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
65g Dutch cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
4 large eggs
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups hot water
For the Chocolate Fudge Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Line a silicone cupcake pan with cupcake liners. This keeps the cupcakes perfectly shaped while allowing for easy removal.
3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
4. Add the eggs, olive oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until just combined.
5. Slowly pour in the hot water while stirring continuously. The batter will be thin-that’s what makes the cupcakes extra moist!
6. Fill each cupcake liner 3/4 of the way full.
7. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting.
Making the Chocolate Fudge Frosting
1. Melt the butter, then stir in the cocoa powder until smooth and lump-free.
2. Sift in the powdered sugar and add the heavy cream.
3. Using an electric mixer or stand mixer, beat until well combined.
4. Whip for about 1 minute until smooth and creamy.
Decorating for Game Day

These cupcakes were such a hit with my Wittle Chefs, and I can’t wait to make them again for Super Bowl Sunday! If you try them, let me know how they turn out. I bet they’ll be the MVP of your dessert table!
