This time of year, we love to have a day at Bedner‘s Farm in Boynton Beach, Florida. It’s one of our favorite places to connect as a family, enjoy the outdoors, and bring home some of the freshest produce South Florida has to offer.
We started our visit in the strawberry fields, where the girls were all in, carefully picking the ripest, juiciest berries they could find. There’s something special about knowing the food you’re about to enjoy was plucked straight from the plant with your own hands. After filling our baskets with strawberries, we moved over to the pepper section, where we picked a colorful assortment to bring home.
We couldn’t keep our girls out of the strawberry field. They would have stayed there all day and picked every ripe strawberry had we let them!

The sunflower field was a highlight of the day. The girls ran around, excitedly choosing the tallest, sunniest blooms they could find, picking a bouquet for Mommy! It was one of those sweet, simple moments and I knew this would be a day I’d remember for a very long time.
Before heading home, we hopped on a tractor ride that gave us a tour of the farm. The ride gave us a chance to take in the full beauty of the fields and see how everything is grown. We wrapped up our visit by exploring Bedner’s market, where we picked up a few extra goodies for the week.
Once home, the strawberries we picked earlier turned into homemade strawberry jam. It’s amazing how much fun the girls had helping with the process, from washing the berries to mashing them for the perfect texture. That evening, we enjoyed slices of homemade freshly baked sourdough with butter and our jam, a simple, delicious treat made even sweeter by the memories of the day.
There’s something so fulfilling about getting out of the house and sourcing your own food, whether it’s from a farm, a farmers’ market, or anywhere local. It’s a way to teach the girls where their food comes from and to inspire them to create fresh, wholesome dishes alongside me. Days like this remind me why I love cooking with my family - because it’s never just about the food; it’s about the moments and memories that come with it.

Love this. Kelsey, you are a natural!
